The gain might be due to insulin triggered by the fruits.

Hi Bernard.Sg To build muscle mTOR pathway (that mechanism requires insulin as well) has to be triggered, that means no one can build muscle without storing more fat. I’m trying to build muscle, so technically I’m storing more fat as well. I think I have enough fibres in diet, especially around the time I eat fruits to suppress insulin spike. Whole fruit is packed with fibres, additionally half of my meal is greens as well. 🤔🤔🤔

Oh I see... optimistically your weight gain might be more of muscle gain instead of fats 💪 Do you use a digital/ smart scale?

For a whole month, February, my weight increased for 5kg. That’s theoretically impossible to be all muscle weight. 😓 But as you said, OPTIMISTICALLY muscle weight may be more than fat weight. I want to be optimistic, but I want to be realistic more. 😅 I use smart scale but I don’t really trust it. It’s cheap Chinese product. So I only see the weight number on scale, but seriously I don’t believe all those numbers.

hahah true, I experienced a 5kg gain over February too. After coming out of my 1st fasting on 6 Feb, I was overeating on certain days and frequently munching on the Chinese New Year tidbits. Yea, I have the same type of scale. After months of observation, I confirmed that only the weight is reliable: The other numbers are purely based on formula/ predefined values. Currently I'm using the US Navy method for monitoring my body fats value (19.3% as of yesterday while the 'smart scale' shows 22.6%).

That was a huge mistake. After fasting during refeeding process body is very sensitive to food. It will absorb everything you eat, no matter it’s good or bad. Refeeding meal should contain a lot of protein, because the body is craving for protein to repair those destroyed structure, which was old cells, inefficient cells, or even dangerous such as cancer or tumor. Refeeding process can be a very dangerous. After you finish your fast you must monitor your sodium intake very carefully. The longer you fast, the more dangerous refeeding can become. Anyway, about my weight, unlike your case, my weight stably increased throughout the month, very stably. Now I can feel that my waist is fitter to the normal pants I wear. I think that’s a clear sign that I’m gaining a lot of fat. But at the same time, my shoulders, arms, calfs, quads, even my chest are more defined. And I can still see my highest abs like before my weight gained. 🤔🤔🤔

Thank you for your kind reminder Nate. I refeed cautiously with miso soup, tofu, olive oil seaweed, chia seeds and a variety of raw nuts. The feasting & snacking was about a week later during the festive period. Anyways, the gained 5kg was fasted away during these 5 days. My goal is to attain close to 10% fats with frequent fasting. Haha, sounds like your gained fats are concentrated at your waist and probably visceral too.
