SPRING CUT - DAY 20
16 Hours Fasted

The scale is a fickle mistress!

Just posted a record refeed gain on my smallest, most disciplined, and lowest carb intake so far this cut. Broke fast a little early at 70 hours. Refed within a 3 hour window, which was a little longer than last refeed. Tough to get the calories in. I was hungry in the buzzing unfed fat burn discomfort sense, but not in a ravenous way, which often happens after a few days fasted. I started with smoked pork shoulder and cucumber salad, and literally felt full after about 600k, before I even got to work at the grill. I thought about stopping there, but decided to push through. Grilled/smoked chicken thighs and ribeye, feta slab, 4 egg omelet stuffed with more feta. Sounds like a lot, but I threw in the towel, stuffed, short of 2,000 calories and right around 30g carbs. Could be the salt, or the psyllium husk fiber, or whatever. Doesn't matter. What it is clearly not is a failure of adherence.

Rested af. Slept like a baby for almost 11 hours. Still full on with the wacko dreams, so perhaps the fasting is not the issue... Visibly leaner in the mirror, despite the scale bounce. Starting to feel OK with my shirt off and comfortable in my body again. Fat roll is warm and gushy to the touch. Mild flux taste in the mouth. Headed right back into full fat torching mode.

Looks like it will take 3 or 4 more 72s before I can call this phase done. Whatever. The only thing that matters is delivering the next 72 hours. Light work.

Started scheming how to come off the cut. The key is no break. No "cheat meal." Straight onto next phase. Planning to run leangains, which is basically a carb/cal cycle around lift days. Going to start super low and safe under the bar. Been putting in bodywork during this cut and ramping that up to help mitigate potential injury. At my age, especially after 18 months off, you can't be too careful, which is not my strong suit.

This run started coming together when I got my family logistics sorted. Got some help with pop and cooked up and prepped for the fam well in advance and while FED. I'm good for today, but need to smoke up some pork shoulder or chuck to carry the household for another week or so and whip up a quiche for Pop. That's today's mission. And the kitchen needs a major scrub down. Cook like a chef. Clean like a chef.

Let's go!

The scale is stupid. Make sure you have a fresh battery. Muscle weighs more than fat.
