When what we say we want to accomplish truly meets what we do, it's effortless. Those days when it's easy to say no to foods that tempt us. Those days when exercising is something we actually look forward to and we take joy in our ability, no matter where it lies, to move. When we don't compare ourselves to the person next to us or over there but compare ourselves to what we were able to do a month ago and congratulate ourselves on improvement.

It's not always inherent that we allow ourselves a pat on the back and really appreciate the steps we've taken. Even if they were wobbly steps, they were steps. We aren't where we want to be yet but we aren't where we were and we're going in the right direction. We have to understand and really incorporate it into ourselves that that is SUCCESS. It's not the finish line. It's every...single...step forward that we take with courage when we really don't know where we're going except "over there."

It can be unnerving to go to a place you've never been. You don't know what to expect or who you'll meet or how long it will take or where you'll live when you get there but we make it into some huge wonderful dream. When we get there, sometimes we find it's a lot like where we've come from but with better grass...and smaller houses. ;)

If your steps are wobbly today, it's ok. No one ever said the steps forward had to always be strong and sure in order to count. Just take one step today if that's what you can do. Each day is a new chance to make a stride. Yesterday is gone and there really is no tomorrow. There are only a bunch of todays.

So just for today do your best. Smile at others, love and be kind to yourself. Talk nice to yourself in your head. Even if you don't believe it, do it anyway. Eventually you'll come to see it's true. What would your best friend say to you? Start there...
