We secretly believe that if only we achieve some elusive goal - fitting into a pair of skinny jeans, or redoing our kitchen or getting that promotion - that it will make us happy. But the pain of our insecurity is hidden in all that racing around. ~ Dani Shapiro

I read a book once that described a vision of being in a mall where everyone was talking, laughing, buying stuff, all the while a great blackness was on the edge of things trying to swallow them up. As the blackness got closer, the people became more frantic in whatever they were doing, louder in their talking, faster walking, racing back and forth. Anything to avoid acknowledging that there was something really, really wrong.

I think we sometimes do that...devote ourselves wholeheartedly to a goal or a project to avoid discovering or thinking about a real problem (or the underlying issue that causes/influences a real problem) because it's easier to deal with the effects than to dig out the root. Sometimes because we know what the root is but have no idea what to do with it so we do the best we can.

I know, basically, WHY I overeat/eat the wrong stuff. And there are times when I think I have the issue fixed and then something comes up to show me that I don't. We're not perfect. We can treat ourselves kindly, though, when we rediscover that fact.

Keep going buddies. Even if you have the feeling of "Groundhog Day" and you cover the same ground over and over, if you are looking for the reasons and working on the root, doing your real best to be kind to yourselves, just keep going. You got this. Even if it doesn't feel like it. Hang on. I saw an article that mentioned that if you knew you had to go through 32 closed doors to get where you wanted to be, you'd be really ok when you hit the 8th closed door and wouldn't freak out about it.

Something to consider...

Have a good day, buddies.

I think a lot of us are on somewhat parallel journeys...or at least overlap at some junctions. It's good to have company lol.
