Day 10 of my 90 day program turned out to be more of a normal day, but with some hunger here and there. As usual, I tried to time my eating strategically, drank coffee, water, and sugar free gum. Still trying to get used to periods of hunger after eating. Dr. Berg on youtube says it is likely due to insulin resistance and to eat more veggies.
I had an awesome 4 mile walk with a few steps of jogging on the downhills. I heard that sprinting at the end of a walk for 50 yards or so makes all these wonderful things happen inside your body's systems involving hormones and such. It sounded so good so, I decided to try it. At the end of my walk, Crumbcake was soooo excited to sprint. We got all "psyched up" took some deep breaths, felt the adrenaline pump, lifted up on our toes, stretched out a leg......and NOTHING HAPPENED. My mind was remembering how to do it from when I was younger, but the body forgot somehow. Crumbcake screamed "what's happening" as my foot came down on the path in a slow mothion walk. Not funny! Well, maybe a little. Yikes!
In the comments yesterday, someone mentioned being grateful for what exercise we can still do, and reminded me that some are not able yet. I have a sister that lost the ability to walk. I didn't think I would lose the ability to run, it just happened. I would like to encourage everyone to challenge yourself to just do one extra thing (but don't hurt yourself) and make it a daily practice.
Today, I will pray for those who cannot exercise but have some hope.
