After a few days on being on this diet, I've lost a lot of water weight, I can tell that I have not been drinking enough water. My lips are dry constantly, and the back of my throat is dry as well :/

I haven't shelled out the money to buy any Ketone testing strips yet, I just don't feel like spending $12 on 50 strips. That's at least a quarter a day.

I did look at some of my macros yesterday and noticed I'm eating way too much protein and too little fat. Pretty sure I'm not in ketosis yet because of this. I'm not sure how I am supposed to keep my protein levels low and eat more fat. I'm also struggling on how to stay full during the day. That's really how I end up eating more protein than I should, because I get hungry and most all the snacks I have available to me is pretty high in protein.

It takes a bit to find a way to make your macros work for you I found. Eating enough fats actually makes me less hungry than when I eat too much protein. Full fat cheese, avocado, walnuts, olive oil based mayonnaise and celery with cashew nut butter have become my new friends, as well as olives and sour cream based dips & sauces. Keep drinking plenty of water though, it'll help! Good luck :)

Hello Jules :) Thanks for the tips. I just struggle with getting the fats in while eating protein. I guess I'll have to incorporate some more high fat foods like sour cream and cheese. Have a great day!

so I am a dummy, but what is macros. I have been a LCHF for years and have been so far into ketosis that if purple could be any darker it would be black. But since 1972 when I started low carb dieting, I have never heard the word macros. explain lucy.

I have the same question Sweet Georgia! I have NO IDEA what it is or how to calculate it or anything! :) Glad someone else is in the same boat I am. :)

Macros is short for macro nutrients. It's the three major nutrients we need to function properly, you are probably familiar with the concept just never heard it called that way before, it's basically how many grams of carbs, protein, fat you should eat in a day. For me, because I am so short, I should only be eating 20g carbs, 54g protein, and 101g fat. This is the calculator I used: http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/

If you can tolerate dairy, you can use heavy whipping cream in your coffee to get fats up. Also, avocado, drizzling your veggies or salads with olive oil, bulletproof coffee, olives, cream cheese mixed in with eggs.

@ Sweet Georgia & gardengranny, you are welcome, glad I could help :) @dancingdeer, thanks for the tips! I'll definitely try doing the cream cheese with eggs, I remember seeing that somewhere. I don't drink coffee so I tried to incorporate heavy whipping cream into my diet by making whipped cream with Splenda for dessert. Lazy me didn't want to dirty dishes more than I needed so I just poured the cream into a mason jar and started to shake it up. Well, apparently I over shook it because at one point the cream instantly turned solid, and I think I made butter instead :P

google recipes for "fat bombs" or try a few of my refrigerator candy sugar free (not carb free, bit low) recipes.
