SPRING RECOMP 2021 - DAY 7

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pleased to see the daily scale climb stop.

Mixed results under the bar yesterday. Advanced bench and incline. Been adjusting grip to try to mitigate the bicep issue. I am told that the technique is to "bend" the bar. Apparently got it right yesterday as the hitch just, uh, vanished on incline, which along with overhead press is historically most problematic. Once I realized that I was pressing pain free, I realized that I had been "hedging" my lifts. i.e., adjusting the stroke in anticipation of the pain, even when it wasn't there. After about 5 reps, I realized that it was just gone, and blasted out 12. Progress goal was 5. I had reps left in the bank, but had no interest in committing to a 20 rep back off set, so I racked it up and took the win. This is where I want to go with everything.

Cure the pain. Advance the lift.

Only squatted 175# for two after an excessive warm-up. Super sore right quad and gassed. Could have ground out a couple more, but I am going to hold off beating myself up until I get these other issues worked out. Realized that I was hedging my squat descent due to the right quad. Can't help but wonder if that pain is linked to right ankle impingement. Did tweak that ankle last week under load...

Anywho, I feel like it's all linked and that while pushing through is a valid strategy, I have more upside potential in resolving these range of motion issues. Looking like I am going to be facing a steady diet of Nordics, reverse Nordics and split squats. Not sure what the thoracic "cure" is, but I am sure that hanging and stretching alone ain't going to cut it.

Getting the diet under control a bit. Threw out the biscotti. Stayed out of the 7 eleven. Stayed out of Pop's quiche. Averaging about 2900k this week, down from 3500 last week.

Kitchens 3/4 dry, Pop's on the one and done Vaxx schedule, projects are proceeding apace, and the sun's out.

@wbh I was horking down biscotti with Les yesterday! Great guy, but he's never met a biscotti he didn't love...
