Debbie Cousins's Journal, 29 Aug 23

Had my first out-patient PT appointment today. It was pretty intense. I liked the therapist, though, even though they call her, “The Queen of Pain.” Maybe she took it easier on me than usual since it was my first visit. They have an app that shows all my exercises, with videos, and you can chart your workouts. I’ll like that. After PT went grocery shopping. A little much. Not going to do exercises again today, but I’ll start 2m0 doing them all twice. I’ve only walked 7/10 of a mile so far and it’s almost noon! Having a bad eating day (again!). Started at 5am making bad decisions. Tomorrow, my daughter is making me crème Brûlée. It’s actually not very high in calories if I can limit to ONE serving a day. No water so far. I just crushed 100 Diet Coke cans for recycling. That’s in two weeks! Gotta stop the madness!

not to say anything about your diet Coke but I watch a video on tiktok and the Dr said as long as you don't have 12 diet Coke a day then it's not really bad for you. some Drs says it is still bad as regular. I wish I could drink it but the after taste is awful to me and so bitter. what do you think about it?

saranchrisriley, I feel like it is bad for me. I don’t drink it “in moderation,” I drink it in excess. I have been addicted to it for decades, though, and any attempts to give it up have been short-lived. It’s also an expensive habit that I shouldn’t be throwing away money on.

I feel ya there I was like nah I'm never going to give up my Mt dew and I tried before and couldn't but this time around I was determined to give it up and drink water and it wasn't bad.

years and years ago I use to be a diet pepsi drinker. But then I think they changed the recipe and it just didn't taste the same. Fortunately that is one habit I was able to STOP! I do like my seltzer water/club soda though, have a least 1,2or3 a day :-)

While diet coke doesn't have the actual calories of sugar, your body still reacts to it as if it were. It perpetuates the sugar craving and it messes with your insulin (and energy). I was a diet coke addict. I switched to juices and quit diet coke. Juices are actually worse, but I started watering the juice down. Adding more and more water until I was able to switch to straight water... 10 yrs ago. Now, just water and unsweet tea (on special occasions). I don't even want anything else anymore.

Coffee addict here. I drink it hot in the morning and iced until I go to bed. Then wonder why I can't sleep. At least it is cheaper than pop.
